SAME OL’ BULL, SAME OL’ RODEO
by Harvey Stanbrough
Harvey Stanbrough just wanted to share some good news: “A high school senior from a high school in Utah sent me an email a little while ago asking whether he and his friends could turn my short story, SAME OL’ BULL, SAME OL’ RODEO into a short film for a school project. I have to tell you I was flattered. Of course, I agreed and asked him to please provide me with the URL of the film once it’s finished so I can put a link on my website.”
“This must be my primary claim to fame in this lifetime. Several years ago, a young woman in Texas won a 4-year college scholarship to the University of Texas by performing an oral interpretation of my long poem, RESIDUA. A year or two later, a young filmemaker in California did a short film adaptation of my flash fiction story, AT CONFESSION. And a couple years later, a different filmmaker created yet another short film adaptation of the same flash fiction story. No money, but I’m rich beyond my wildest dreams.”

a film by Risteard Ó Domhnaill
A documentary film on the community at the center of Shell’s Corrib Gas Project in Co. Mayo, Ireland. In 2005, five local men were jailed for 94 days for stopping Shell from entering their land to lay a high pressure, raw gas pipeline. Since then, the small farming and fishing village of Rossport has been in turmoil, with hundreds of gardai and private security deployed against a small community to force this natural gas project through against their will.
THE PIPE, which won an Irish Film and Television (IFTA) award in February, was chosen as Best Documentary at the Galway International Film Fleadh, the Foyle Film Festival, the Boston Irish Film Festival and the Arizona Film Festival, and was the opening night feature at the Washington Environmental Film Festival.

Crossing the American-Mexican Border
by Karl W. Hoffman
Dear Friends an Border Associates,
It has been quite a journey, but after 4 years of covering both sides of the American / Mexican Border, I have finally finished my feature length (95 min) documentary. This is a multimedia production film including photography, video and narration. Being totally self funded, it required me to study video and sound editing along the way. Most of the summer was spent editing and writing the script for my narration. As I uncovered the vast intricacies and experienced the emotion and brutality of the border debacle, waded in after the media had sensationalized segments for salable stories to root out the many unknown facts and hidden agendas of both the major and minor players, not to mention the endless hours on hose back, foot and 4×4, in the air and on raids with BP, as well as in the field with humanitarian groups, it occurred to me that this was culminating into a form of philosophical sculpture. It became a mirror for humanity, to show us just how, through a detailed account, we deal with major issues. No matter where in the world they occur, or in the time line of history one goes, the formula seams to be the same. Providing the information about what really happened here on the border at the turn of this century with compassion and objectivity will hopefully lead to future generations learning from our actions rather than following our example. This is my gift to humanity. I would like nothing more than to send a signed copy of this documentary on DVD to every one who would like a piece of our history. I must however ask for $17 to cover production and shipping. This is the first run and the best I could do for all of you who have been so supportive. Donations are also gracefully accepted and appreciated so I may send copies to Washington. I am still available for lectures and exhibits, or if you would like to show this documentary in your school, at your function or fundraiser, please feel free to contact me.
If you would like a first run signed copy or would like one sent as a gift, please send your check or e check for $17 to:
Don’t forget to include the mailing address you would like it to go to.
