Summer Reading: July Westhale & Felicia Zamora – July 5, Thursday at 7:00 PM/ 2018 UA Poetry Center Summer Resident July Westhale will read from her work alongside writer Felicia Zamora. To be followed by a Q&A.

Art for Justice Film Series: Free Screening of “Mothers of Bedford” – July 25, Wednesday at 5:30 PM / Eighty percent of women in US prisons today are mothers of school-age children.  Mothers of Bedford tells the story of five women, mapping the experience of motherhood through the lens of mass incarceration. Free and open to the public. This event takes place at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E Speedway Blvd.

Whitman Circle Summer Social: Meet Our New Literary Director, Diana Delgado – August 8, Wednesday at 5:30 PM / Come cool off with a cold beverage and help us welcome Diana Delgado, the new Literary Director at the University of Arizona Poetry Center.  Diana will help oversee the Reading Series, the Classes and Workshops program, and more.  A current NEA Literature Fellow, Diana’s first book will be released by BOA Editions in 2019.  Light hors d’oeuvres provided. Free and open to the public. This event takes place at Hotel Congress, 311 E Congress St.

It’s the 40th anniversary of Ai’s Killing Floor, which has now been out of print for years. Join us in helping Tavern Books bring this important Tucson poet’s book back to readers and classrooms everywhere. And check out the amazing reward levels! Support the project on Kickstarter. 

Hotel Congress 100 Year Poetry Contest

Hotel Congress is celebrating its historic 100th anniversary year with a contest celebrating its unique history. The University of Arizona Poetry Center is seeking poems written about Hotel Congress, the hotel’s history, or programs and events with significant memories of this Tucson fixture.
