Are We There Yet? Pacing and Payoff in Narrative Verse: Taught by Adrian Matejka, May 16th, Monday at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, $45 / Like a good story, narrative poems also require appropriate pacing and they reward us for our attention. In this class, we are going to talk about ways we can can reward our readers for their attention through storytelling strategies.
Screen Writing: The Basics: Taught by Ted McLoof, May 30th to August 1st, Mondays at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, $260 / In this course, we’ll be learning the fundamentals of screenwriting for those students interested in the craft, but we’ll also be applying these rules to the creation of good prose as well. We’ll use the language of screenplays to create and edit stories and novels more efficiently.
The Deepened Image: Taught by Christopher Nelson, June 14th to June 23rd, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, $160 / In this course we will read and discuss numerous deep image poems—influenced by Zen Buddhism, Jungian psychoanalysis, and Spanish surrealism—and enhance our own capacities for imagining in words.
Collaboration Playvacation: Taught by Hannah Ensor, July 12th to July 21st, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, $160 / As a group we will delight in the joy that we can find in work created not by a sole author but instead by the weird spaces that exist in the hyphens/bridges/gaps between us.
