He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has. — Epicetus
Since 2009, we’ve provided free creative writing workshops to teens in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn through The Writers Studio KW (Kids Write), our nonprofit branch. This summer, KW offered a new free online course for high school students with dyslexia. KW workshops use the Writers Studio method of teaching creative writing to lure dyslexic and city students into enjoying reading and writing.
We hope the new workshop will develop into a vital resource for students with language-based learning disabilities and their parents, and that we will be able to regularly offer it along with the other free KW offerings.
Contributions to The Writers Studio KW are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.The Writers Studio KW is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
The Pushcart 40th Anniversary Reading entertained, inspired, and awed a full house. Thanks to all our readers and to all who attended. The full year’s schedule is now available here: The Writers Studio Reading Series.
