Shadow Puppetry at Tucson Meet Yourself fun for everyone!

Borderlands engaged a packed tent with the magic of shadow puppetry. The Carillo elementary students, Borderlands staff, interns and a volunteer did a fabulous job behind the screen! A good time was had by all. We presented dos cuentues and an adaptation of El Creciente by local author and historian, Patricia Preciado Martin. This marked our first venture into presenting shadow puppetry in Tucson and we’re working towards making it part of the Borderlands Theater brand.

A Tucson Pastorela remains generously infused with farcical satire lampooning 2015’s biggest political and pop cultural events. The shepherds and their flock embark on a harrowing journey to find el baby Jesus, but must make it past Lucifer and her minions’ traps fueled by disguises. Alas, Archangel Michael and his sidekick Gabriel are in tow with a few disguises themselves to outsmart those nasty devils and help bring Christmas cheer!
