Buzz Stevens Author- RUNNING DEEP WITH STRANGERS: A MUST FOR HUMAN SURVIVAL

RUNNING DEEP WITH STRANGERS: A MUST FOR HUMAN SURVIVAL

by Buzz Stevens

“‘Why does Dad always seem to prefer to be with total strangers than with us?’  I had stepped over to meet and engage with a passenger that night on board an evening boat ride with my family when I overheard my youngest daugher ask her mother that daunting question.  It was a crushing blow and I should have been prepared to deal with it after nearly 50 years of marriage and 40-plus years of family life.”

“Such bonds may be the only way to overcome the indifference we feel toward our neighbors and masses of alien motorists we pass daily. Countries, family units and faith communities may be generating empathy that winds up denying what belongs to outsiders.  Steven Pinker, author of THE BLANK STATE; THE MODERN DENIAL OF HUMAN NATURE contends ‘Family love indeed subverts the ideal of what we should feel for every soul in the world.'””
