NWU Reading and Open Mic Resumes this Monday at Bookman’s

After a summer hiatus, the National Writers Union will be resuming its monthly readings and open mics (started in 2006) by hosting a reading and open mic on Monday, October 20, starting at 6:15. This month’s featured reader will be Alicja Mann, whose theme will be writing life in “another” language. She writes from an immigrant’s perspective and will address the issues of identity, belonging, and otherness with readings from her book Looking at the World Twice. Alicja is a writer and independent publisher living in Tucson.

This will be followed by an open mic. The open mic is for spoken word only, but is open to all forms of spoken word (fiction, essays, poetry, articles, polemics, etc.). So bring something to read!

The event will be held in our new location, in the community room of Bookman’s Entertainment Exchange at Grant and Campbell in Tucson (1930 E. Grant Rd.). There is ample free parking.
