A new season is upon us and that means it’s time to kick-off the 2014/15
Rough Readings Series with the first draft of an as-yet-untitled play by Resident Playwright, Geetha Reddy on Mon and Tues eves, Oct 6 & 7.
The play is conceived as a wildly imaginative journey through time and space to explore the intersection between high energy physics, women in science and hindu mytholygy. Set at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, the play centers on unconventional choices made by physicist Dr. Alpheratz Schen PhD. Inspired both by Lawrence Krauss’s novel A Universe from Nothing and Reddy’s own life experience as an Indian woman working in the patriarchal world of science and high tech, this play delves deeply into the role of gender, race, and power in science.
Co-commissioned with Crowded Fire Theater, this reading is the play’s first public foray on a year-long developmental process, culminating in a world premiere next year. We would be honored if you would join us for this first reading.
As always, our Rough Reading Series is Pay What You Can.
