The University of Arizona Poetry Center- Rios Named Az’s First Poet Leurate & UA Faculty Reading

Ríos Named AZ’s First Poet Laureate
The Poetry Center is thrilled to help celebrate the news of Alberto Ríos’ appointment as the inaugural poet laureate of Arizona. Arizona has a rich and compelling literary history that mirrors our people, our beautiful landscapes, our important traditions, our struggles, and our bright future. Ríos is an exciting inaugural laureate with a lifelong history of service work, supporting education and community outreach throughout his distinguished thirty-year career. We look forward to promoting a greater public role for poetry with Ríos and future laureates, and to making the Poetry Center a home base in Arizona for the work mandated by the appointment. Visit the exhibit on his work in the library, and stay tuned for a fall launch event and reading featuring Ríos at the Poetry Center—we hope to see many of you there!
