Summer Social with Tyler Meier this Thursday

Beat the heat; meet and engage with new friends! This summer, the Walt Whitman Circle is hosting a short series featuring local artists and writers. These gatherings are informal and open to any and all interested in meeting friends and carving out some space in the day for great conversation and poetry. Join us on August 15, when new Poetry Center Executive Director Tyler Meier talks about the role poetry can play as a cultural signifier in our intimate, shared public moments. The chat begins at 6:15 p.m. at Café à La C’Art in downtown Tucson. Stop by early for wine or a beverage on your way home from work and stay as long as you like.

Iconic First Editions

Don’t forget to stop by the Poetry Center to check out these ‘Selections from the Permanent Collection‘! The Poetry Center Library presents first editions of poetry collections by some of the twentieth century’s most iconic poets. Works in this exhibit are drawn primarily from the Poetry Center’s L.R. Benes Rare Book Room, and some are on display for the first time. Exhibit runs until September 4th.
