>> IS THE WRITERS STUDIO FOR ME? Founded 25 years ago by Pulitzer Prize winner Philip Schultz, The Writers Studio emphasizes technique and emotional connection, making writers aware of the distinction between the actual writer and a narrative persona. For beginning students, we offer a safe, non-competitive and supportive environment, where you can learn to turn autobiographical fragments into successful narrative or poetic pieces. For advanced students, we offer technical guidance and professional criticism while you work on longer pieces to submit for publication. Read more about our unique method which makes The Writers Studio a 25-year success story.
>> “OF ALL THE WORKSHOPS I’VE TAKEN, the caliber of the other students is the highest, and the challenge for me is the greatest.”–Denise Batts, Level I student. Read more from our students.
>> CONGRATULATIONS TO ISAAC KIRKMAN, whose short fiction “Portrait of a Sister with Insects” has been accepted for publication in the online journal Out of the Gutter. The piece came from a Jennifer Grotz exercise. Isaac is a student in Eleanor Kedney’s Advanced Workshop in Tucson.
