UNLOCKING THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Presentation by C. Michael Bennis at the Society of Southwestern Authors’ August 19, 2012 Forum

C. Michael Bennis will discuss the inspiring, funny, perplexing, insulting, provocative and egotistical albeit loving world of the creative process. “I might threaten your sex life, your marriage and your safe driving record. I might even entice you into the excitement and mystery of falling in love with your characters.” The presentation is about writing fiction that gets out of control. “I plan to bridge the gap between hearing and listening, both to you and to others. The purpose is to identify creative tools that are so cool you will never fear writer’s block. Be prepared to put on your mental track shoes. Know that you can do this. Then take a deep breath, and accept that once you start, there will be no going back.”

Michael studied at Complutense University in Madrid, and graduated from the University of Colorado where he was part of the 1961 University of Colorado Big 8 Champion football team as well as the 1962 Orange Bowl squad. He also graduated from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, which led to a career in international advertising, marketing and public relations.

He has written successful advertising copy, served as director of Communication for a major toy company, and author four 90,000-word novels, with two published Romance Novels in circulation: RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (2009), and SIGNS OF DESTINY (2012).
